1-2-3 BOTTOM BOXES

Boxes with 1-2-3 bottoms are also called snap lock boxes. Although these boxes might take longer to assemble, they are more secure than tuck-end boxes. Interlocking flaps at the bottom allow the flaps to be closed. To achieve more strength from the bottom, there is the option of adding a flap. When used for retail purposes, these boxes may be assembled without the use of tape, depending on the style of the top. The box assumes its constructed shape and position upon locking together these flaps.

How to Fold a 1-2-3 Bottom Box

The first step is to place the box with the bottom facing you and open it like a standard corrugated box. At the bottom of the box, you will find four flaps. Towards the center of the bottom of the box, fold down the largest flap (it should have two straight sides and a cutout in the middle). The next step is to fold the two side flaps in and tuck the ridges of these flaps into the cutout in the fold of the first flap. In this way, they will be held in place. A final flap should be folded upward, and its tab should be tucked behind the folded flaps.
